Just recently noticed that some of my mkvs appeared to stutter when panning across landscapes or with any fast movement. I brought up the VMR FPS using shift-1 and found that it was recording 25 FPS. By memory this was showing 50 FPS in the past.

I am using Powerstrip to set my resolution at 720x576 @ 50Hz. I have an old CRT TV that supports 50Hz and 60Hz with a max resolution of 1024x768 via S-Video.

I am also using the dynamic refresh rate tool, as this worked very well to remove any stuttering for TV (PAL). When I turned this off, it didn't make any difference to the frame rates for the mkvs, so its not the refresh rate tool.

Can anyone provide any clues?

If video file is progressive (25fps video) then it is only possible to render 25 frames per second (rendering it at 50 second won't add anything to the video smoothness, only cause extra GPU & CPU load).

If video is 25fps interlaced then the result can be rendered as 50fps as the result of deinterlace there is more frames to be shown.

Sorry but this fixed my ghosting/lag images issue, going from 25fps to 50fps and using powerdvd 9 codec.
