Ok, I've been having a number of issues recording shows the past few months. (luckily, not a lot of shows to watch in the summer!) It started with shows not recording at the proper time. Typically they would start recording at about 10-minutes past the program start time, and record the total pre- plus post- time. (for example, a 10:30 show with 3minutes of pre- and post recording would start recording at 10:40 and record a total of 36minutes.)

I eventually solved that problem with yet another system wipe, and restore from the initial system installation backup and clean installation of 1.5RC. things have worked well (testing) over the past week. Until tonight.

I had set a recurring recording for Thursday nights at 10pm, and came down at 11:05 to watch the show (Elementary on WOIO DT). Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

the logs for the TV server show that three ATSC tuners were available; however the show was not recorded. (See lines starting at 2013-09-19 22:52:34,682.) Thinking that I may have messed up the EPG (should be an xmltv entry with a prefix of PC%...), I opened the TV guide and clicked and subsequently watched the channel. so that wasn't it.

Why, if three ATSC (OTA) tuners were available, did it not record? (Also, why does TVservice check the analog tuners for digital recordings?) there are a number of DEBUG lines, but no obvious errors (e.g., "[DEBUG] - CardReservationBase.RequestCardTuneReservation: placed reservation with id=1, tuningdetails=ATSC:tv:Terrestrial WOIO DT Freq:-1 ONID:1 TSID:2301 SID:2 PMT:0x0 FTA:True LCN:10 phys:10 maj:19 min:1 mod:Mod8Vsb").

Again, this is a fresh install of MePo 1.5RC. I'll have to update my system specs in my profile.

thanks.

    Hello Greg

Why, if three ATSC (OTA) tuners were available, did it not record?
It looks like TV Server simply didn't recognise that it was required to record. In other words, the program didn't match the conditions of the schedule (or the schedule doesn't exist).
Can you tell us exactly what type of schedule it is? I mean, is it a "record every time on this channel", "record every time on every channel", "record every week at this time"...?

Also, why does TVservice check the analog tuners for digital recordings?
The code that checks tuners is generic code. It doesn't know the difference between analog and digital tuners. Nor does it know it is a digital recording. It simply asks every tuner, "can you tune to this channel?". For a digital channel, analog tuners will say no and that will be that.

    mm,
thanks for the response. it is set as a "record every week at this time." I just finished a test recording ("record once") of an show at midnight. it recorded.

btw, browsing through the forums, I came across a recommendation (which I already knew) that even single seat installations should have a static ip address. so I just now changed that--post recording.

I have three ATSC recordings (every week at this time) set for tomorrow (oops, tonight....wow), and we'll see how those go.

I'm going to finish watching the led zeppelin story and go to bed...6am will come in a hurry.

    thanks again.

    yup,

it seems that recordings fail with the "record every week at this time" option. single recordings work.

    this is not good.....
