After reinstalling the clean MP on my system making sure there where no residues, I only istalled the shortcutter plugin and the shoutcast plugin.

Initial if looks like the MP is much more stable.
But again lockups appear. in such a way I have to kill MP in the task manager.

This happened during shoutcast selection of channels
Video playback. Especially when I try to jump forward for 10 minutes and repeat that 3 times on a IMAX High definition stream.

Two times the program crashed completely.

I am considering a complete new isntall of the PC now.

So clean vista No additional unnecessary software and a clean MP install
Latest BIOS is already flashed

Would this be an advisable track? Or should I change back to XP?

seems is was driver +codecs issue.

Not here, works fine for the codecs its setup to support, are you using the latest FFDShow Tryouts.

After some remarks on one of my other threaths I de-installed FFDSHOW and rolled back one version of the ATI driver .
You also commented that FFDSHOW was not the common used codec as I recal it?

Any way since that day I never had a crash again.(I keep my fingers crossed but it is running 9 days stable at this day
Just wanted to share that
