That mockup is beautiful! Don't know if I can be of service but I know a decent amount of C#/Silverlight and a few others. I'm also quite good at bug fixing.

I like this concept. thumbs up

for the filter options in the search area - the following points come in my mind
    - Uninstalled extensions
    - Recently updated / new extensions
    - suggested extensions (from already installed extentions)

(Suggested extensions would possibly fit in the area manage)

    Kind regards

Can't remember when I used standalone installer (MPEI) last time. My only choice is MP GUI plugin since I have no separate server and problems with UAC. BTW can't remeber many stanalone tv server plugins requiring installation.
Hope team will concentrate on GUI solution. I almost sure it is possible to deal with installations without mouse like WMC and XBMC do.

Bacause it is a lot of work, I will offer my help. I have programming skills in Java and a few in C# as well as some other languages.

I will make my best that the Extensions plugin will not be forgotten (I agree with you 100%) :p

I would like extensions or MP2 setup to also cover country specific TV logos and possibly even country specific EPG grabbing.

WOW - @joostzilla nice work on all those concept screenshots in the wiki

some time ago on my flying visit to xbmc looking what the (biggest) competitor has to offer, the option to install plugins within gui was _the_ thing that remained in my head and i very liked it to see this was being added to mp some time later. i think a feature like this, being able to install new "apps" and skins easy in the program itself without the need of getting up off the couch to use mouse and keyboard again, is a killer argument for comfort and easy handling and kind of a "must have" nowadays since even the normal tvs offer such options to add youtube functionality for example to enhance the user experience in a kind of easy way.

in general, from a customers point of view i dislike kind of "complicated" ways to achieve something. for example, just yesterday i tried to send a youtube video from the smartphone to the tv with youtubes recent addition of pairing their app with the tv. it worked, so far so good. but i always have to start the youtube app on the tv first to be able to use the smartphone app to pair and stream afterwards. waaay to complicated, probably won't use it a second time after all...

long story short, the ease of use is so much important i think! users who stumble upon a problem, as minor as it seems for somebody else, maybe try a competitor and stay there for the reason he does it a little bit better... so it would be great to also see the ambitious goals you have being accomplished within mp. being able to handle even slightly complicated installations with 1 or 2 options with the remote only...

anyway, it's a great and ambitious concept, i like it and hope it will be implemented soon!

A single configuration app for Extensions should be secondary!

Keep it within Mediaportal, and let it update automatically.

Love the extentions plugin, although it could have a nicer layout.

Mediaportal is a HTPC software - So let it be configurable with a remote - Just like XBMC.

Keep it simple for everyday use and make advanced options for more detailed config.

I'm no programmer..........But hope that this some day might happen - Else we are gonna loose to other HTPC alternatives

Agreed. Basically, the MediaPortal App Store, right?

I will add, some extensions already have a bit of a start here. I turned on my TV last week, and StreamedMP showed me an "UPDATE AVAILABLE" icon on the front page. I went to settings, where I saw another icon leading me to the right place. Once there, I clicked update, and 2 minutes later I was fully updated with extremely minimal user input. It just worked. That's the type of changes that the plugins can start with, and the "app store" will follow, I think!

There will/should be a notification about updates. But auto-update? I don't like that for many reasons because it can cause a LOT of harm on your productive system.

I agge, yet you can't put all options inside the MP GUI. You can't compare MP with XBMC in that regard because MP has MUCH more config options and doing everything with your remote is a cumbersome process.

However, in MP 1.3.0 Beta, we have allready added more options to configure MP into its GUI. So we are working on that. :)
