Hi

I appear to be having an issue with video playback within MP and the brightness/gamma is off. This happens regardless of video codec in use (XviD, x264, mpeg-2) and there is no change when using VMR9 or EVR and when in full screen or window.

I have tried the same videos and codecs within Zoom Player using both VMR9 and EVR and also within PowerDVD 8 and there is no issue with the brightness/gamma. Alterating the colour settings on the Nvidia Control Panel also affects the brightness/gamma within Zoom Player and PowerDVD 8 so there must be something wrong with the internal player of MP.

Is there anyway to fix this, other than using an external player?

Ok this might sound really dumb but...

Is it possible I am seeing this problem because I am using a LCD Monitor which will be using PC-Levels rather than running MediaPortal on a LCD TV?

Does MediaPortal adjust the color levels automatically to TV levels?

IIRC I did not have this issue in WinXP (decided to go back to Vista today just for the hell of it)

After some more fiddling around Ive managed to set the levels correctly within the xvid config and coreAVC, but I am unable to set the colorspace levels on my mpeg2 codec.

Again trying the same codec in Zoomplayer using EVR there is no issues whatsoever. So either MP is not using EVR or MP is doing something to EVR to set the colorspace levels to TV Levels.

I'm having similar problems. I haven't found a solution yet.

I have found using drivers 169.25 in Vista show proper VMR9 levels in MediaPortal.

EVR levels are still incorrect in MediaPortal and if using VMR9 in an external player such as Zoom Player the levels are off using VMR9, which is rather strange seeing as they are fine in MediaPortal

Probably should have stated that I'm using an ATI graphics chip. So using nVidia drivers isn't going to do me much good.

Oh, I was not aware the issue was there with ATI cards. I am not 100% sure but I think you can set levels within ATI CCC.

The other way to sort it is by selecting PC levels in the codec settings if possible, or setting to RGB. You can set levels in ffdshow, XviD & CoreAVC. Not sure about any mpeg-2 codecs.
