Oops, recordings are stored in My Documents/My Recordings.

Maybe this is not changeable; must be getting confused with other HTPC software.

I'm suprised that WebEPG only received channel 4 and upwards. It should receive all the channels that are mapped by WebEPG-conf. Did you turn off the DVB-T EPG when using WebEPG?

xmltv by itself is painful as the channel names must match exactly.

What locale does windows reckon its in? From Control Panel->Regional and Language Settings

Yeah I very much figured that when I started trying to use the xmltv program  it was worth a shot though.

Now you mention it the DVB-T EPG is switched on, I will turn it off and have another go, at least then if everything comes in an hour wrong I can adjust the database manually.

I am very careful about the locale when I install windows and always make sure its set to uk, but I shall check that just in case its changed itself back, like so many of windows xp's other things that it likes to turn on by itself

Indeed, I am a "Portal Numpty"!

You need to edit the card definition to specify the location of where the recordings are saved.

My documents is fine by me. thanks for that.

Just one question though, can I not use the DVB EPG to retrieve all the tv listings as I thought that is why it was there, its how you get the listings on a freeview box surely?

Hi,

I think that DVB-T EPG is for 7 days - it's possible to get a (probably inaccurate!) 14 day guide via WebEPG.

Some people like the 14 day guide and find it useful if they plan to go away for 14 days and want to setup recordings in advance. However, ever since I built a MediaPC, I cannot afford to go away even for 1 day so I only use a 7 day guide anyway :D

Also, since I receive input from Sky Digital Box via an ATI550 I have to use web sources for the EPG.

DVB-T EPG seems an on/off affair depending on which CVS you happen to have...

I'm using the CVS above at the moment and it seems to have downloaded all the channels now correctly except for BBC1, so thats now sorted as well thanks :)

I should know its better to leave alone I think :) and 7 days is plenty enough for me.

Time for me to modify the OS now, this bit I can do without any help :p

Something really weird just happened. MP retrieved all the listings through EPG DVB-T and everything was good. Then for no reason it shifted Channel 4 and another channel (I think it was BBC3) by an hour. Only those two channels mind you.

Then when I tried to watch channel four while recording it would not show me the program that was on at that time but only what was on an hour earlier. So I tried to FF to the end and found that it had recorded the program after it into the same section. I checked the recorded programs section to find that the recorded program was not listed but it was telling me that it was still recording as well presumably becuase of the sudden programming shift that it has decided to do.

So again I tried to watch Channel 4 whilst recording and it started to timeshift an show me what had been previously on, so FF to the end and this time I got a message saying "NO SIGNAL" which is rubbish as the signal was fine once I unplugged the PC and plugged my freeview box back in. Then after saying "NO SIGNAL" for a few minutes media portal Crashed with the dialog box that I didnt get chance to read as it promptly blue screened and rebooted the PC.

Now all I get is "NO SIGNAL" when I try to watch any TV in MP even after the reboot.

Nothing has changed in my first post except I am now using mediaportal-cvs-03-23-2006--01-03

I had been watching ready Steady cook prior to all this happening on BBC2 as I was teaching my g/f how to use the box and everything had been fine, including timeshifting as we rewound to program a couple of times to see what would happen.

I'm really stuck now, I stuck the machine into hibernate and when it came back out I had tv for a couple of minutes and then it died again.

I switched off timeshifting which seemed to cause the majority of the problem as I was able to watch tv again for about half an hour and then it stopped again, again displaying the "No Signal" error message.

Welcome to the mysterious world of MediaPortal

Yes, DVB-T reception still has bugs; the "no signal" is probably related to the bug reported by:

http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=697

I've not had a BSOD for a while, but I tend not to use timeshifting. I think that some major work is now going on within that area though, and people are actively trying to resolve the "no signal" error.

I'm not sure what's happening with the programme times: did your hour offset start happening after Daylight Saving Time began? Does your machine believe that Daylight Savings Time is active?

You might want to see if you can recreate and log as a bug via http://mediaportal.elite-squad.net/forum/index.php?

Or search Mantis to see if you can find similar bugs.

ok, so I need to tinker and see what I can reproduce.

It seemed to be better without timeshifting on but timeshifting prior to that bout of "oddness" timeshifting had been working great.

I had wiped the EPG completely so I could leave it and see if it retrieved it from the DVB-T signal on its own, which it did and then it shifted just those two channels. I know they were right at one time because I was checking the channel listings against my weekly paper tv guide.

Thanks for the link to the bug reporting section I will see what I can do with that, hopefully I can give back some important info to the guys.

Anyone mind if I keep adding things to this thread as its starting to feel like a good place to come back to, to get answers to problems.
