I am now using a program called Event Ghost, I believe someone mentioned it earlier in the thread. It has several plugins designed for different kinds of remotes. You can add programs and tell how to map remote keys for each program that you add. It gives you more flexibility. For MediaPortal to work with it you still have to install a plug-in, but one simple plugin with nothing to set up besides Event Ghost.

    Hi Henk

I have the exact same issue too. Not sure if it's a Windows 7 problem or a prob with ver 2.2.0.0 of this plugin as I swapped them both at the same time. Will be spending most of my free time over the next few days getting MP sorted out as much as possible so hopefully I can sort something out. Will let you know how I go.

    Cheers
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

If it helps, I have the problem with Windows XP SP3. For this moment I have downgraded MP to 1.0.2 and now the plugin works as usual. I have tried to get IRSS working, but with an IMON remote it's not easy.

Hope that you can solve the problem for MP 1.1 so I can upgrade again.

    Good luck.

    Regards Henk

Had some time today and after a bit of trial and error, I got this plug-in working on Windows 7 64bit with a cheapo Ortek VRC-1100 (aka Hama MCE, aka Adesso ARC-110, etc...) remote.

First let me thank everyone in this thread, there were lot of good bits here that helped me piece this together.

Base software installed for this was:

    • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    • MediaPortal 1.0.4.23491 (1.1 BETA-1)
    • Recompile of Generic Keyboard/Remote Input Plug-in 2.1.0.0 by disaster123
1.1.0 uses the \ProgramData directory structure for custom data, I think this is where most go wrong with this.

    1. Copy the two .dll files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\process
    2. Copy the MCE keyboard.xml to C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings
    3. Disabled all other remotes in MediaPortal Configuration
    4. Mapped all the keys for the remote in the Keyboard Input Plug-in config in MediaPortal Configuration
Not all the buttons work, I still have some fine tuning to do, but the basic functionality is working and I can successfully use this $15 cheapo knock off remote! :)

That was it, hope this helps.

On a related side note, I also installed the MPTray plug-in to take control of the start button to have it start MediaPortal.

I too have a Ortek VRC-1100. I was a long time user of this plugin, but after upgrading to Windows 7 I discovered LM Remote keymap:
    http://www.lmgestion.net/@en-us/4/22/60/73/article.asp

This has a specific remote map for the Ortek VRC-1100 (which I use) that allows you to map ALL buttons to any function, including macros. It's very cool and easy to use :)
