Hi there,

New to Media Portal and loving it. In My Music I have been using Show Album info. I really like being able to bring up track information and a nice review of the album, but in the last few days every time I go to retrieve album info. it tells me the album cannot be found, and this is for well known albums and artists and for albums which only last week Media Portal had no problems retrieving information for.
I am using the current stable release and other Internet features such as My Weather and the similar feature in My Videos are working fine.

I also have all of my mp3's tagged correctly.

I'm just wondering how to troubleshoot this, where does it retrieve this info. from? I cannot see any settings in Media Portal Setup related to this feature and I am baffled why it has just suddenly stopped working.

Thanks in advance.

I decided to install 0.2.3.0 RC1 and the latest SVN, but I am still finding no album info.
I have attached my log files to see if anyone can help, but if someone could explain how the "show album info" works, that would be great. I read in another post that MP passes on tag info when it retrieves the album info is that right? Where does it retrieve the info from?

My guess is there must be something wrong with my tags for the "show album info" to fail every time. Most of the music is mp3, but I do have some wma files. As far as I can see my files are tagged correctly.

Thanks

    Hi jamiro,

MP uses the tag information (Albumtitle & Artist) to search http://www.allmusic.com for the album.

I looked at your MediaPortal.log (which is the interesting one), but you where using MP for 2 hours or something? Could you please just open MP, do an Album Info and Close MP again and then attach the (much shorter) log?

Also i think that MP is retriving the album info all the time, and the right approach into this feature should be to retrieve the info in first time, and then if user press info, then show the previously retrieved info (for scan the cover & info again there it should be an option into the context menu F9) this behaviour should be the same for movies...

    regards,

Thanks mbuzina for your reply and explanation and apologies for the long .log file. I'm just a newbie.

I have gone back into MP searched for 4 albums then exited. You should find a smaller .log file attached below.

Hopefully this will help you track down any problems.

    regards,

It does not (to my knowledge). Press F3 first time, it will load & save locally (in Database). Press again it will use the db. Press Refresh on Info Screen to reload. (Thats how it is supposed I think. If it does not, there may be an issue).

    Thanks hwahrmann,

I will grab the latest SVN.

While I am here I just want to say what a great piece of software MP is.
It took me a while to get it setup and working, but the time was worth it, and after switching to 0.2.3 I can see that it is becoming a very polished piece of work. Keep up the good work.

It has changed the way our family listens to music, watches TV etc. and the best thing is it all runs on my old hardware. :)

    Cheers.
