Since upgrading from 1.2 to 1.3b I seem to have a problem playing some of my movie files. They played ok before and still play fine in MediaPlayer Classic.

The files that dont seem to play are all .wtv file format. The error is simply unable to play video and avc codec. I have tried using MS codecs, LAV etc but no change. Anything I have missed?

wtv seems to be disabled in LAV Splitter's input formats by default. No clue why and if it is supported at all.
Have you checked that setting and tried enabling it?

hi - I have but still makes no difference... seems to be a similar problem to the issues in the wmv thread - plays fine in other players but not in mediaportal... only had this issue since 1.3beta.

I have the same problem on 1.3 RC: all .wtv files are no longer playing which 1.2 has played without any issue. It does not matter if Microsoft-Codec or LAV is chosen. I hope this will be fixed in the final 1.3 release.

I am having a similar problem with 1.3.0.Final. The only files I seem to be able to play are mkv. Everything else comes up with a Codec error. All played fine in 1.2.3. I have attached log for anyone who an understand what they mean. I have usually been able to muddle through getting everything working but have hit a wall this time. Any assistance is appreciated as coping a lot of grief from wife about playing around with the system when it worked fine in 1.2.3

All videos play in WMC so it has t be the codec setup in MP 1.3.0. I also just noticed that my user avatar says I'm a portal pro, but I am sure that the posts I have made in the last few days blow that away. Have tried everything to get this works short of going back to 1.2.3, and I only haven't done that because I think the latest install may prevent that from working as well.

    Any ideas are gratefully accepted.

Does the problem only happen with .wtv files?
There seems a problem with the mediainfo.dll not getting proper file infos. I don't know if this is related to no playback:
    Code:
    MediaInfoWrapper.MediaInfoWrapper: HasAudio : False

Can you try to use LAV Video decoder for your XviD codecs as well?

Win 7 reinstalled (after made search for a ps2 keyboard and mouse for the installation) and fresh install of 1.3.0 and all seems to be working fine. Yet to reistall plugins, TV Series & Moving Pictures, but all videos seem to play from My Videos.

Thanks to all for your support. when it comes to sorting these types of issues my avatar says it all

    Thanks again

A fresh install is no option!

I have tried to replace the MediaInfo.dll with an old one, even if the one from the standalone MediaInfo-GUI (which is able to scan any .wtv file properly, by the way).

If for example MP-TV Series of MP 1.3 tries to scan a .wtv file, it says "Problem Parsing Media Info" regardless of which MediaInfo.dll i use. No infos regarding the file can then be received. So, can anybody tell which file to replace in order to get .wtv and other AVC files working? Without that, MP is useless. Thanks a lot in advance.
