Synopsis::

The current version of GForce visualization (install filename G-Force_352_WMP.exe) hangs the BlueTwo (at least) skin. When playing an mp3 in My Music w/ G-Force visualization selected in WMP, hitting any key that changes the state (pause, FF) or screen (Now Playing) of MediaPortal hangs display of the page. I say that it hangs the page, rather than MediaPortal, because my LCD display still shows the state or navigation (I can go home, back, etc. and my LCD shows where I am), and MediaPortal still responds to the power-off button (by quitting). All I get on my CRT (or TV), however, is the visualization in full screen, OR if it was windowed, the BlueTwo skin hung w/ the visualization playing in the inset window. This only appears to happen w/ G-Force visualization; other visualizations in WMP behave normally.

Being new here I do not know if I am following the correct procedure for bug reporting - is there something else I should be doing, additional data to be provided?

No one else having this issue?

yeah, post your mediaportal.log to mp.pastebin.com please.
I have an older release of G-Force running well here.

Do you have exclusive Direct-X mode enabled in general options?

OK, thanks for the help. I do, however, have exclusive Direct-X mode enabled.

    I posted in pastebin here:

    http://mp.pastebin.com/699213

I have narrowed the problem down: it only happens when I attempt to go from displaying the GForce visualization to the "Now Playing" page in MP.

To help, I also posted the "normal" log here:

    http://mp.pastebin.com/699219

In this run, I played the same song and navigated to the "Now Playing" page from the visualization; the only difference is this visualization was the WMP "rotating particle," NOT the GForce.

    Again, thanks.

No one else using a newer version of GForce seeing this problem?

Here are a couple of screenshots of addtional data on the problem - many of the skins (but not all!) are "missing" once I have run the GForce visualization. And this does NOT happen if I am running something like the particle visualization.

Playing a song w/ GForce, then navigating to My Photos (I added the blue paste-over, of course):

Is that G-Force using DirectX itself? That might conflict with MP.

I'm in the process of writing some new code for My Music and have run into this same problem. I have a pretty good idea what's causing the problem but need some additional information to make sure we're seeing the same thing.

After this problem occurs, can you check the contents of your mediaportal.log? I suspect that you will find that once this error occurs MP MP no longer writes to the log (and has other related problems). Can you confirm that this is/isn't the case?

    Thanks,

    Steve
