Want a great MCE-remote, do a search for RC197 @ eBay. (Just ordered two myself).I cannot possibly find any decent remote to work with MePo anymore since they all lack support for MCE signalling.

It is not clear what capabilities you are looking for, but there are many universal remotes that have MCE signalling built in. All One-for-All remotes made within the last few years support MCE signalling (the setup code is 1272), and the same is true for remotes made by Universal Remote Control, and Logitech Harmony. All of these companies manufacture a range of remote controls that have a variety of button layouts, so you should be able to find a button layout that matches your preferences.I cannot possibly find any decent remote to work with MePo anymore since they all lack support for MCE signalling.
