Since i am using a lcd tv with FullHD resolution i go lots of dropped frames compared to my old plasma running at 1024*768.

I found out that MP does not drop frames when in "windowed mode" (maybe because the video picture is smaller ?)
At the moment i start MP in fullscreen i get lots of dropped frames.
I only talk about SD TV and DVD.

Is it possible that my graphic-card has not enough power....?

BTW Cpu usage is never more then 30%

i'm not sure about the 8300... could be a driver issue with the resolution maybe you could also switch VMR9 to EVR or vica versa to see if it helps... however for standard def playback the gpu should be more then enough

You where right. Is funny but VMR did the job. Not even for SD but aldo for fullHd channels.

I never tought that VMR under Vista s performing better then EVR.
To my findings it seems that EVR has some issues with displaying content on high resolution, even if the input material is SD.

Remember EVR did run find on lower res on my system....

    How is this possible?

VMR9 under vista is software based, so its more CPU than GPU limited. So maybe with weaker GPUs the VMR9 will actually perform better on load wise. Of cource then you need to use exlcusive mode to get tear free videa and exclusive mode itself is always a little bit more limited than non-exclusive (for example you might see desktop briefly when stopping video playback...).

    Hi,

I have the same board (M3N78-EM version)

The 8300 is fast enough for 1920 x 1080p, no issue here. Running 1080p MVK's without issue, although I'm using Windows XP at the moment, although I did have vista installed originally and it wasn't an issue.

I've used FFDSHOW and MPC-HC x264 codecs decoding HD content and both run perfectly.

    1. Make sure that your hz is correct, I'd suggest using the refresh rate changer as running @ 24hz for 24 fps content makes it silky smooth. When I was running at 50hz or 60Hz, it appeared that frames were being dropped.

    2. Make sure that you are not using cool n quiet, these chipsets (8200/8300) have an issue where if it's on the processing of video's doesn't work very well... Either disable it in the bios OR turn it off in power management by setting both min and max cpu settings to 100%.

    3. Mpeg-2 video Hardware Acceleration is not implemented very well, found I had to use 50hz to reduce flickering, though this might have been because I'm in Australia and we use PAL. 60hz did not work very well, though hasn't been a problem with other graphics cards.

    Cheers

    Matt.

    Thx for all the help.

Does anyone here have an idea how much faster a Nvidia 9400GT is then the onboard 8300?
