    Can anyone get the modified dshowhelper.dll to run with MP 1.0.2?

    So far it seems only you and me.

    You're alone, I run the new Alpha :confused:

    But you did test test right? That's what i'm reading from this post:

    Testing against my Lenovo D221 LCD monitor gives me same results as HomeY (using the files he supplied BTW). When we say "correct levels", then it means that I should only see bars 17-25 flashing, right?

    With the original dshowhelper.dll I see 2-25 flashing.

    SP1 evr.dll + original dshowhelper.dll == incorrect levels
    SP1 evr.dll + dshowhelper_nominal_range_0_255 == correct levels
    SP2 evr.dll + original dshowhelper.dll == incorrect levels
    SP2 evr.dll + dshowhelper_nominal_range_0_255 == correct levels

    If it makes any difference I'm only on SP1 on my Vista32 Danish.

    I have Nvidia graphics (Quadro NVS 140)

    Yes, I tested these four combinations with the AVS calibration files. And yes, the new dshowhelper does wonders to the PQ :)

    My HTPC runs XP so this is probably why I haven't thought about the colors before, as I only use my laptop as a client for testing plugins and skins before they are allowed on my HTPC (you know, WAF and all).

    On my 9500GT system, selecting 'with nVidia settings' and 'full range (0-255) RGB' in the 'Adjust video color settings' section of the nVidia control panel fixes the problem.

    So it seems we've tracked the problem, now a solid fix needs to be found.
    I must say i'm pretty disappointed by the number of responses so far..... :(
    Doesn't anybody bother about the most important thing of his HTPC?? PQ!!

    Tourettes: Did you test it yourself? Having crashes? See any differences?

    Remember what time of year it is. Many of us is on vacation. I will test when I get home with onboard HD3200 and 1.02

    Yeah, that's probably the reason, or my expectations were a bit to high :)
    The thread was so so alive when we were trying to figure out what it was, and now the solution seems to be there, it still was kinda quiet :)

    at least :D for testing! :D

    I've tried various audio codecs, & disabling various plug-ins - MP1.0.2 still crashes every time with the modified dshowhelper.dll (and the standard 1.1.0 version) whenever it tries to play a video file or live TV.

    It does get as far as building the graph (and displays at least one frame) - I checked the graph with GraphStudio and it looks OK.

    Attached are log files generated in 'debug' mode leading up to a crash.

    Tony

    2009-07-15 20:43:47.545000 [ERROR][MPMain]: failed:unable to add filter:ffdshow Audio Decoder to graph
    2009-07-15 20:43:47.545000 [ERROR][MPMain]: failed filter:ffdshow Audio Decoder not found

    Still the same ffdshow error Tony.
    I've also heared more people having problems with ffdshow lately.

    What if you de-install ffdshow and then use another audio codec?

    I have the same problem using a Nvidia 9400 setup on Windows 7. Washed out blacks in MP 1.0.2, while MPC-HC is fine. I use the MPC video codec with the Cyberlink audio decoder. Have tried the new dshowhelper, but it immediately crashes the player.

    On my 9500GT system, selecting 'with nVidia settings' and 'full range (0-255) RGB' in the 'Adjust video color settings' section of the nVidia control panel fixes the problem.

    Tony

    Actually, I tried that, but it didn't seem to work. Did you use this with HD material?

    Yes - 1080i/1080p to a 1080p display, MPEG-2 & H.264 (DXVA), Vista32+Aero+EVR

    Maybe it doesn't work with Windows 7 (or the nVidia Win7 drivers) ?

    I'll try it again once I'm home. For now I'm using MPC-HC. Hope we find a resolution soon.

    Edit: I tried again today, but switching to Nvidia settings and then selecting Full (0-255) instead of Limited doesn't solve the problem in Windows 7. MPC-HC still no problem.

    Please keep testigng, we need to figure out what is causing the crash (I really doubt it is the change I did as it is trivial one and if it is causing the crash then it could be some buggy drivers that don't like it. But I doubt it).

    I'm not able to access my dev PC for half a week, so I need your help. Someone please provide the dshowhelper.dll from the 1.1.0 Alpha (or current SVN release) for to be tested with 1.0.2 (to see if it is just incompatible with 1.0.2 in general, sorry I cannot rememer if there have been some changes between 1.0.2 and current SVN / 1.1.0 Alpha).

    Could be a driver side issue as not even the driver setting is not solving the issue you are seeing. Are you sure that you are using EVR custom renderer in MPC-HC?
