Where can the volume settings be done in MediaPortal? I use the AMD HDMI audio device. Nothing special, and everything works, when I freshly start MediaPortal - so the config can not be that wrong. I don't need volume control within the application, since I use a av receiver.

Only exotic point: I use a shell replacement for explorer.exe - but I did that also with earlier versions of MediaPortal.[DOUBLEPOST=1342714802][/DOUBLEPOST]Should I totally clean up everything and install MediaPortal new??

I think HDMI can cause some problems if it's not initialized properly after wake up etc, can you set your audio device to something else for testing purposes? If the HDMI is causing the problem reinstall probably won't solve it. Maybe new display drivers? Just guessing...

    Hi there,

Can you ensure you are using the Default Direct Sound Device within MePo (codec settings)... then set the default to be the HDMI device (from within the control panel)

Just an idea (although you may already have it set like this)

Until now I only had one sound device in the system: the ATI HDMI sound device, because I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS.
Now, I enabled onboard sound (SPDIF/Speaker/...) in the BIOS again and I hibernated/resumed the system sucessfully multiple times without the freeze of MediaPortal.
The HDMI sound device is still selected as default device and sound is working via HDMI.
I also tried the option to delay startup of MP at resume, but that didn't change anything.
The restart MediaPortal at resume option seems also to solve the problem.
    I will continue testing.
I have the newest AMD driver (12.6) and didn't had the problem with MediaPortal 1.2.3 with the same driver.

Can someone who also has just one hdmi audio device (no SPDIF/Speaker devices) confirm the issue?
It's not really clean to have a device enabled, that is not used at all and I think that should be fixed if it also happens to other users.

Are you sure this problem doesn't have anything to do with the volume control changes in 1.3a, to allow master volume control on W7 & Vista?

Maybe the audio settings in your config file, are causing the new routines to act up. Try changing (and saving) your audio settings in Config, and see if the problem goes away.

    Hi there,

I think the issue is related to detecting/binding to the sound device - maybe, but not sure why.

Have you tried turning off the Skin sounds in MePo.... just stabbing in the dark trying to find where the issue may be.

I have my SPDIF BIOS setting configured to HDMI, I also have ordinary audio enabled in the bios - Never had a reason to disable it.

I already have skin sound effects switched off.
I just thought, its better to disable something that is not used. But if it helps, I could leave the onboard sound devices on as a workaround.

I changed "General/Volume Settings/Control" from Wave to Master Volume, but the behaviour is still the same. If I only have my ATI HDMI audio device enabled in the system without the onboard devices for speaker output / spdif / etc. I typically get the hang up after 3 times hibernating / responding.
With the (unused) onboard sound devices beeing enabled in the BIOS I didn't had a hang up so far.
If someone want's me to do more testing, I'm ready.
