I have this annoying problem with video encoded with h.264 vc-1. During playback all the video is flickring, I don't know if this is the right word. Seems to continuously loose a fraction of a second. Tried to uninstall ati video card driver (ati radeon 4250 embedded) but without results. I also change the codec in mediaportal portal setting under the field h.264 from ffdshow to mpc and windows codec, but the problem remains the same. Tried do reinstall ffdshow too.
I'm sure that is a problem with mediaportal and this type of video because with videolan all works perfect.
With normal divx still haven't problem.

Windows 7 64bit, mediaportal 1.1.2.0, ati radeon hd 4250
Thanks for help

What you are seeing is stutter. This can have many causes. Most likely related to the combination of your hardware, the codec and the video file.

Give some more info. What file container, what resolution, what frame rate, what processor, what display, ...

The display is a Samsung TV 40'' connected via HDMI. The video card is the Ati radeon hd 4250 embedded on mobo and for cpu I have an AMD Phenom II X4 3.2GHZ

The problem occurs only with mediaportal, with VLC works fine
    thanks for help

What refresh rate do you have the display setting at? If you have it at 50fps (non US TV standard) you would see a short jitter frequently. Are you using the automatic refresh rate changer in MP? That should make sure this file is played at 24fps (if your TV is capable).

Windows 7 refresh was 60 hz. Changed to 25 without results. The other one in 30. So I enabled the automatic refresh rate changer with the popup notification and when I try to play the video a popup appears saying that the refresh is 24 but the stutter remains:(
What should I do. I don't understand why I don't have problems with VLC
    Thanks for help

    Hi there,

Can you please post your mediaport logs. :)

Also, when the video is playing, if you press "shift and 1" together (!) it should display some stats/information. Can you either:

press f11 (this will capture the screen and stats to a file - and then post that file here)
Manually post the information/stats here (eg actual fps, detected fps, dropped frames, etc).

    Many thanks,

    J.

Hi, I'm back with good news. I solve the problem but was my mistake :( :(.
I'm using a tool from the shellex command for downloading the video's subtitle with a click. Unfortunately, due to a code bug, the program rename all the videos with the extension ".avi". So, renaming back to mp4 solve the problem. I don't know why mediaportal acting like this, maybe you do :). Now I have fixed the software either. :)
Thanks for help and sorry for the wasting of times

Hi.I have same problem but I have no any external tools. different is that I am still using a CRT TV which is connect with my PC over TV OUT bracket. When I play HD video I have no problems with MPC-HC or any other external player. Any other video formats on MediaPortal like, .avi , .divx , etc. works fine. Thank you advance. :)
