I can't however understand why, with cpu between 30 to 50% in all three app MP, MPC-HC and also wmplayer, I have the lockups only in MP ...
I could understand if MP uses more CPU but it don't seems so ...

Just note I had this but only if I had moving pictures plugin the beta version or I.F.C. - Intelligent Frame Correction installed.. if you uninstall them it will not fix it.. you need to do a clean install of mediaportal.. Do clean install and dont install any plugins for a day so you can test it.. only install one plugin at a time and test for a day before installing any more plugins

The difference between MePo and MPC-HC is not in media decoding but in rendering where GPU is involved, so I suppose it's a GPU (bandwidth?) problem.

X1250 GPU is "marked" to be able to play fullhd 1080p video, but you need a fast processor (for sw decoding).
My CPU is not a rocket ... but reading usage it don't seems clogged. I would like to leave "in life" a bit more to my old 2007 htpc ...

CrashUK, I'll try with a clean install ... I thought that frame corrector plugin could be "interested" with the problem in fact I deactivated it, but with no success .... (I have also moving pictures installed ... ) I'll try when I have time with a new installation (my wife will kill me ... he he)

Hello,

You told that the difference between mpc-hc and MP is in the rendering ....
I canged the video renderer in MP from EVR to VMR9 (I have win vista)

The H.264 1080p is played fine !
CPU usage almost the same, but no locks in the video.

But I have strange effects using VMR9:
1. at the end of the video playing I see sometimes the desktop for 1 second than MP come back (it's set in fullscreen always on top)
2. the topbar always disappear when playing a video, until I restart MP
3. sometimes the skin pictures / background disappear ..
4. in the recorded TV the recorded events loose the info of the date-time when of the recording I see only the channel. Restarting MP all returns ok.

Something similar is happening to some guysin the thread "EVR and Stutter with nVidia ION"
Now I can play h264 video .... but there are collateral effects ...

I solved definitely the problem
I installed divx codec and I set it for h.264 decoder, set again EVR as rendering, now all seems perfect.
So ... not a X1250 GPU problem ... but some conflict between ffdshow/evr/MP

VMR is not supported under Win 7, you have to use XP and that's why I suggested it in a previous post.

As rivera said ffdshow DXVA is still not good. I supposed you've also tried with MPC codec and still had the problem.
