I currently have MP 1.2.3 working with an Hauppage 45 button remote that is working with my Hauppage PVR-150 and it works well.
I am re-doing my setup and the PVR-150 will not be migrating to the new front end. I would like to use my Harmony 700 but I do not know what I need to get. I've done some reading on USB IR receivers but I got very confused about RC-6 and whether I need one or not.
Can anyone recommend what IR receiver I need to get and perhaps a good source?

Thanks,

Keep using your current IR receiver. Teach the harmony remote the Hauppauge 44 button remote's IR signals. Don't change any settings on your PC or within mediaportal.

I can't keep the current receiver. I'm setting up a new frontend only and the PVR--150 is a full height card and will not fit into the half-height frontend case so I have to use a different IR receiver. I have an older serial receiver kicking around somewhere, I have no idea where drivers might be though.
I imagine I'll need a USB IR receiver.

I'd recommend an MCE compatible/cone IR receiver + remote combo. It's safer to buy a receiver with an included remote, if the logitech profile doesn't work you can also make it learn the channels from the remote that came with the receiver. I'm fairly sure that most PC/MCE remotes are all RC-6 so you shoudn't have to worry about accidently buying an RC-4 remote.

Something like this should be fine

I personally have the same HP branded MCE clone receiver that is in the last link, the receiver is also an IR blaster, my remote control is different to the one pictured but it shouldn't matter. It is plug in play (no drivers needed). If you want you could just buy the receiver and then set the harmony to MCE mode.

However it doesn't cost much more to get the remote bundled with the reciever
