I'm trying to get MP to work with my harmony remote and my new Zotac Zbox Nano AD10. I have the "MCE" remote in the config checkbox checked.

I have verified that the included Zotac remote works fine with Media Portal (and Windows MCE). However, my harmony will not work in either application.

In myharmony.com - I've selected the device to be "Microsoft Windows Media Center."

Any ideas here? I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm thinking it has to be a problem with the remote?

Update: I tried using the Zotac's remote to "learn" the commands. Now the harmony is acting quite strange: each command may or may not work on the box, but what's weird is that the symbol on the remote's screen that tells you it's blasting IR stays on for a LONG time with each button press. Sometimes when that finishes, MP will do a few commands at once. It's incredibly weird.

Anyone know the deal?

    Hi Shadrock.

Have Harmony 600, set as Windows Media in device and it's perfect on MP.

My initial suggestion would be Zotac isn't 'MCE device' but the Harmony behaviour does not sound right. The screen 'IR' symbol stays on for around 1 second (have in hand to check:) all being well:)

If it's longer, wonder if your remote itself is the problem - faulty unit or corrupt config and it trying to send a sequence of commands and not single command (this fits with your posting and occasional MP behaviour)? Have you connected it to PC and looked at config (the software and management process is a real pain).

Can't see how problem could be within MP given the Zotac unit works, so all thoughts lead back to the remote itself.

Good luck and good hunting - JCMP

Well the harmony works great on other MCE devices using the MCE setting. It's only acting funny when I used the "learn" commands. So that one is out the window I'd assume.

It must be that the zotac IR sensor doesn't read in like an MCE remote... that's all I can assume...? Does nobody else have this issue?

    Hm - that's a bugger then.

There is something I recall about MCE and jitter control or debounce (it's in grey matter somewhere) - I wonder if the Zotac is sending signal in 'pure MCE' mode, picked up be the Harmony in learn mode and what's coming out

So, I had a tinker with mine.

In config, set extended logging on REMOTE section and set log level to DEBUG on main, and restart MediaPortal then run a few key strokes from your remote.

    From my logs

As you can see, I use ShortCut'er (and BBC weather - you know us Brits and the weather).

Running same on yours may provide you with pointer to problem.

    Good luck & good hunting.

Just FYI everyone, the only fix that I could get working with the Zotac AD10 and a HArmony Remote with MediaPortal is to install and program Event Ghost and the Message Plugin for MediaPortal. It actually works FLAWLESSLY now... using the "Windows Media Center Windows 7" setting in EventGhost, and programming the Harmony 700 as a Windows Media Center MCE device from Logitech's Database...

    Be warned! haha.
