I have Vista SP 1 installed
I have media portal 1.1.0 installed with StreamedMP installed
I have a Hauppauge IR receiver plugged in

In the Mediaportal remote setup area it lists Hauppage remote.
I go into that area...but it wont let me activate the remote?
Can someone tell me what I am missing?
...or what I have to do
to get it working??

I installed the IR32...
and it then removed the problems showing under the Status area....in the Hauppage remote tab

I am then able to tick the use Hauppage remote

Do I have to teach it commands?
or should there be default commands that work already in Mediaportal??

I just tried starting the Media portal and it doesnt seem to be controlling anything?

Yep that looks like the one I have!!

yes that is it!
So do I use the Microsoft remote profile?
that is the remote and the IR receiver thingy

Oki Doki...thanks for the patience!!!
Give this a go

No ...I ticked the Microsoft remote
and went back into media portal ...and the arrow keys do nothing

..my notebook mouse works

Do I have to map the keys or something?

or have I missed something in the Media portal 1.1.0 setup?

Duuuuh!!! What a dumbo I am!
I went back and checked the remote...and wondered why there was no light coming on when I pushed a button!
Yes you guessed it ...I had one of the damn batteries in the wrong way!!
Sorry about that...I am now banging my head against the wall!
So now ...phew!

I tried it and it still doesnt work in media portal when set to microsoft

at least the remote is now causing the IR receiver to display a little red light
every time I push a button...indicating its receiving a command of some kind.

So do I have to program this??
...or is there a way I can test it in the media portal set-up??

when you plug in for fisrt time the receiver did the windows found from alone drivers for this device???can you check if the receiver work with microsoft media center??and for last can you check in the device manager if your reciever is listed there and where??

Dont try only the arrows keys just play around to see wich buttons are function. If your receiver react with little red ligh its mean that its workign but you must see which buttons working in mediaportal.
