I'm starting to get fed up with this remote now. I think I know roughly what the issue is. I think my issue is that windows is somehow "double controlling" the remote - if I exit MP, and for example open a web browser, I can still use the remote to scroll up/down in a webpage. Should this be happening? I'm trying to use the excellent blu-ray plugin in this forum, but even when PDVD has focus, MP in the background is still accepting the remote clicks presumably because of this.

Things ive tried:

1) *Completely* remove all drivers using hcwclear.exe. Then install the most recent drivers from the Hauppauge website using the "driver only" install. What this does: Gives me my TV cards back, and lets me use the remote functions up/down/left/right and OK within MP and in windows generally. BUT if I try to enable the hauppauge remote in the MP config it wont let me, stating i need to use the drivers on the mediaportal website. So only up/down/left/right and OK works in MP which is no good :(

2) I've tried the drivers on the mediaportal website, which seem to work but take me back to the start above. Also, something called hcwhelper.exe seems to constantly crash.

3) I've tried removing the autostart IR from the startup group...this doesn't seem to work either.

Does anyone have a definitive way of getting this to work? I'm starting to lose hope :( Anyone know of any shops (not ebay) to get an mce remote in the uk if all else fails? :(

Thanks PD :) Although that was the thread that inspired me to get this fixed earlier today and has caused me the headaches i'm getting :D

Installing those WinTVCD4_6b drivers, just gets me up/down/left/right + OK working...I can't enable the remote in MP, it says the drivers arn't there and that I need to download the specific ones from this website..which is fine. As I say, the remote works OK in MP now. My issue is with MP still holding onto the remote and not giving the control to the PDVD plugin in this thread -> https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/plugins-47/blu-ray-hd-dvd-player-powerdvd-working-solution-32268/

And now i'm doubting where the issue lies, is it a remote fault or a plugin fault? I can't decide now that you have stated I'm getting expected behavior? ahhhh! :)

install only the drivers and the ir32. restart ur htpc. go to MP config -> remotes -> hauppauge. if there is a message, that it's not finding a file, don't mind. had the same problem in 0.2.3.0. give it some tries. then go to mapping and delete the other 2 remotes. so just the 45-buttons one can be selected. now it should work like a charm ;)

post a screenshot of the error in MP config
