I've tried installing various sets of drivers, from the 4.0 cd, to the 3.3 cd, to the ones found here on Mediaportal, etc. I did the HCWClear procedure with a reboot every install. The remote works fine outside Mediaportal, just not in the program. I have the remote checked in config on all defaults. Is there anything I'm missing?

Have you got the Hauppage IR software running? Not entirely sure whether you really need it to be (set my remote up a while ago now), but I've just checked my pc and I have it running. The only other setting required is the checkbox in the mp setup which you said you've already done.

You should have a 'Hauppage WinTV' option in your start menu->Programs, underneath this is 'Restart IR', click this to start the IR software.
In my start menu->startup folder I've also got 'Autostart IR' which loads the IR software when the pc boots.

Sorry it took so long to get back, I forgot about this thread. I've installed different versions of the hauppauge software/drivers and nothing has worked. Right now I've got the latest drivers installed, with everything from the software cd that had the drivers installed. I've tried restarting the IR, but that did nothing

What's weird is that I had this problem a few weeks ago when I was messing around with Meedio, but the remote worked fine with the WinTV software. Now it won't even work with the WinTV software, and it has fresh batteries and the receiver is plugged in securely in the card.

    Here's my mediaportal.log:

i have had a mce 500 with hauppage remote and it works well, did so with 2.3 and continues to do so with rc1, one thing i did have to do was remove all the mappings for the other remotes otherwise the remote would behave in a random fashion.
The hauppauge remote software is required to set up media portal but after that it can be removed from the start up group.

the only glitch i have come across so far is when i accidentally try to go to a channel that is off-line (from the tv guide or via prog up/down) the window that eventually comes up loses focus if i have pressed any other buttons on the remote meanwhile.
This leaves it stuck in front of the screen and only way to get rid is turn mp off!

My problem seems to be that Windows has taken full control over the remote. I've edited the .ini file responding to the remote and nothing seems to have changed at all.

    Must be something in Vista.

sorry can't remember what vista was like, tried it for a while but didn't notice any diff on the remote and i avoided premium for this very reason, used basic.
use msconfig to remove the ehome and hauppauge ir driver from startup and try then..

    Has this issue been fixed?
If so, could you post a HowTo?

    :edit:
I finally got it to work :D

    - Remove the "Autostart IR" entry from the start-up folder in your startmenu (if you've installed this)
    - Shut down Hauppauge's IR service if it's running.
    - Insert the cd which is provided with your tv-card.
    - Use the wizard to install the drivers.
    - Browse to the IR32 directory.
    - Execute "IRBlast.EXE", "IRBlastWiz.EXE" and "IR32.exe". (Just press ok if you get any errors, here it didn't find some dll)
    - Start MP and try your remote.

Also, don't forget to take a look at the manual.
