i have had a mce 500 with hauppage remote and it works well, did so with 2.3 and continues to do so with rc1, one thing i did have to do was remove all the mappings for the other remotes otherwise the remote would behave in a random fashion. The hauppauge remote software is required to set up media portal but after that it can be removed from the start up group. the only glitch i have come across so far is when i accidentally try to go to a channel that is off-line (from the tv guide or via prog up/down) the window that eventually comes up loses focus if i have pressed any other buttons on the remote meanwhile. This leaves it stuck in front of the screen and only way to get rid is turn mp off!
