I updated the first post with the latest known issues. Please let me know if I missed anything or if the information is incorrect.

    Thanks!
    Wile E.

    Update:
I just noticed on Hauppauge's web site under the Windows Media Center Tab "This version only supports two channel (stereo) audio. Support for AC-3 will be added in the next release". So we are not the ONLY ones with this issue! :)

I just wanted to mention that HDMI audio works with the patch I released. Not sure why I was having problems before, but I tried again and everything works now. I may have had channels set to the wrong audio type or auto. Now they're all set to spdif 1, and it works.

This still has the same problems as the optical audio, but should be solved the same way too.

Edit: I do want to clarify one thing. I am running optical audio (SPDIF) and my STB's are set to PCM only and it works fine. Only when I turn on Dolby Digital do I have the issue. So optical audio is not a problem, only when DD turned on is it an issue.

I have done the same as you and set my Dish STB to PCM only and tied in the SPIDF (optical) and still get no sound. I did not reboot before testing, just hooked it all up and did try with Arcsoft Showbiz (which I get audio through even on RCA) and works, I will try the reboot after hooking up SPIDF after the kiddies get don watching a movie, they saw Mediaportal on and immediately wanted to watch a movie...they won.

I was poking around earlier and should there be an audio device in the mixer on Win7? I see the device listed in device manager Colossus Encoding and Colossus Decoding Device but do not see any audio device in mixer other than the machine... I was thinking maybe not Mediaportal but Windows issue?

    Hey Tenuhseegeek,
Make sure all your Channel Inputs are set to SPDIF #2 (see attached photo). If they are set to auto, then the crossbar could be selecting the RCA Line # 1.

If you change your audio inputs, be sure to either restart the TV Service or reboot...

    Good luck :)

Thanks for all your time, guys - impressive thread!

I just added a Colossus to my server - and I face the same issues as some mentioned in this thread (sound issues when changing from 2 channels to 5.1). Unfortunately, my Pace HD Receiver DCR6230 has no setting to turn off DD.

mm1352000's patch helped a bit, though. By stopping and restarting TV the sound is ok, although the workaround is not really improving the WAF.

Please tell me if you need any testers.

I also have the same problem about being unable to disable DD on my box. Using RCA cables would be a workaround for now.

I took a look at the sound problem some more today. I think WileECoyote's suggestion of a delay is what we need. Right now, after selecting the channel, MediaPortal waits until there's a valid signal coming in, and then uses that to determine how to map the a/v. The problem is, we need it to wait until the new channel is blasted and we have the new signal. It looks like most tuners MediaPortal has needed to work with in the past have been able to do their own tuning. That way, we'd always know when we have the right signal. This doesn't apply to blasted cards because we always have a signal.

So, the solution here would be to add a forced delay before grabbing the PMT after blasting. I would think that this would be a card specific option for the TV Server, that defaults to 4000? milliseconds for HDPVR, and Colossus, and 0 for everything else. 4000 is just a number I came up with, not sure what the right number would actually be.

I hope to have some time to look at this some more soon, but I can't guarantee anything.

Thanks for taking a look at the code! :D
Do you see the PMT changes when you haven't changed channel in your TsWriter logs?

PS: I wish TsWriter passed all PMT version changes to the C# side - the Colossus seems to rotate the version every 5-10 seconds or so. It could make things much easier, but apparently doing that can cause problems...

    @WilE and anyone else...
Still having an issue, weird... I have STB set for PCM only, Optical SPIDF out to the Colossus, pass-thru from Colossus back up to stereo receiver so when not using MP I can still watch TV. The machine has an onboard audio card with its own optical SPIDF output which is what I have hooked up to receiver as well so I can switch to MP and listen to music and watch videos. I unplugged RCA jacks just to be sure and set channel 6 for SPIDF #1 and chanel 7 for SPIDF #2 channel 8 for SPIDF #3 to test each input. Restart machine and run MP, still no audio on any of the channels.
I know the card works as I close out of MP and run the Showtime software and I get audio no problem, so my issue lies within MP somewhere. What does anyone suggest, I can blow out the install and start from scratch if need be, but it has to be something I am missing that you all have set up correctly. Pulled last hair out this afternoon (now working on pulling hair out of goatee).

    Hi tenuhseegeek

    You're using my patch right?
Can you post your TV Server log (tv.log). I'd expect to see the TV Server selecting the right crossbar input as you change channels, and that change should be logged...
