So what you're saying is I need to 2 Cable Boxes??
Is there no other way? Like adding another or a different Tuner Card?

Sorry to be bring you bad news, but, Like i said, as far as I know, there is none.

And by the way, you will also need another tuner ...:sorry:

I know the pain... trust me ..

Everyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this one...

This is just my theory here, but I don't think the collosus can tune 2 output at the same time. Lets just say i'd be surprise it does.

Somebody at AVS had mentioned the Ceton 4. I don't quite understand it that well as I'm still a novice in this whole HTPC/TV Server business ... but I was wondering if anyone here knows about that and can shed some light.

Other then that i do understand your point, the Comcast box can only output one station at a time. I just find it hard to believe there's no other solution.

Thanks!!

The Colossus can only "tune" one channel at once - that is an inherent limitation in the setup. Either double the setup as deskwizard suggested or move to a Ceton InfiniTV 4 or Silicondust Prime solution in WMC. Neither of those solutions are supported in MediaPortal right now...

This is what I thought. Thanks for the quick confirmation mm ! :)

And I dont know about the Ceton and Comcast working together.

Maybe someone who knows will chime in.

Ah! I did not think about compatibility with Comcast issues.

I'm looking at a significantly lower-end Colossus based build to possible build a 2nd low-end HTPC which does nothing but record shows. I can put it in a room that is barely used for watching Live TV. Might be my best bet - might be my only bet.

    Thanks guys.

    Hi folks

Just a quick note to say that the issue with the Colossus and HD-PVR WMC plugin issue should be fixed in MP 1.2.1. I'm going to leave the patch for 1.2.0 final in the first post for a month or so just in case anybody still needs it. I'd appreciate it if anyone could confirm that MP 1.2.1 does indeed fix the issue.

    Cheers!

I've had my two Colossus cards for almost a week now, and they have been fantastic! No dropped recordings, no files with any errors. They have been pushed hard, as I typically record three college football games on Saturdays, with a length of about four and a half hours for each. All games were perfect. And I've found the file sizes to be the same as they were for my SD cards, so I've no need to purchase a bigger hard drive for a while. MM and skoka, thanks again for your help in making the decision to buy them, you did not steer me wrong!

I've got a strange EPG grabbing issue (or rather scheduling issue!) ... and I'm posting it in this thread cause some of us were discussing this a while back when I was setting everything up in this thread.

I use mc2xml for grabbing EPG data. I tried to schedule the mc2xml.exe program to run on a schedule using the Windows Task Scheduler which comes with Windows 7. The strange thing is - whenever the Task Scheduler launches the mc2xml.exe ... the exe asks for the parameters (like Postal Code, Zip Code, etc) to be entered!! However - If I simply click on & launch the mc2xml.exe ... it never asks me those parameters - it automatically takes the ones I specified the first time and runs the program, creating the correct xmltv.xml file. I have no clue why it is that when Task Scheduler launches the same mc2xml.exe, the exe asks for the parameters.

Because it asks for those parameters and human intervention is needed, the whole point of "automation" fails!!

Do you guys have another way of automating the creation of tvguide.xml using mc2xml which could potentially be set to run automatically at a pre-defined time WITHOUT human intervention??

    Thanks!!

    Hi luci5r

Not technically the place for this question, however I understand why you'd post here...
I'd guess that mc2xml creates some kind of configuration file per-user somewhere in C:\ProgramData\... (or C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\... for XP) when you set it up. This issue would then be caused by the fact that the task manager is executing mc2xml with a user that does not have any mc2xml configuration. Maybe you could try using the -D and -o command line switches as mentioned -->here<-- to specify the config and output files (???).

Disclaimer: I've never used mc2xml and the website seems to be down at the moment so I couldn't test. In other words what I said could be baloney. ;)

Actually you're very, very close to target! Apparently there is indeed an mc2xml.dat which contains all the necessary options and that file is automatically read when I run mc2xml.exe, however, for some reason, that file is not taken into account when Task Scheduler runs it.

I'm looking into a batch script that executes the mc2xml.exe along with the necessary .dat file ... hopefully that will work.

BTW - is there is a way for the xmltv plugin in TV-Server Configuration to read the tvguide.xml automatically at scheduled times once it's been created?

    Thanks mm!!
