Hauppauge HVR-1300 Freezes the PC, know the problem but not the fix (1 Viewer)

This is not a MP problem but may be the MP users with the same problem could help me/us.

When I'm watching the TV on the Hauppauge HVR-1300 Tunner, the PC freezes in a random minutes (5,15 minutes) and i have to reboot the computer. Searching on Internet, seems that the IR software/driver of the Hauppauge card is incompatible with dual, quad or hyper threating CPUs and randomly freezes the system.

The only way to "fix" this issue, is uninstalling the IR software, because Hauppauge didn't have fixed this issue for 1 year.

Can You provide some information about your configuration. CPU, Motherboard, Graphics card, OS, Graphics driver, TV-card driver.

I have similar problem with my Athlon X2, Geforce 8600 system but it seems to have been solved by the latest drivers.

Base System: Shuttle SN78SH7 Barebone (Geforce 8200 chipset)
CPU: AMD 4850e
OS: XP SP3 - Vista SP1 Ultimate
RAM: 1GB Kingston 667 DDR2 - 512x2 Buffalo 800 DDR2
Lastest nforce drivers: 15.24 and updated the geforce driver to 178.24
Hauppauge drivers: Version 2.122.26109
IR Drivers: V2.49.23332 (from mediaportal downloads) but i think updated to 2.56 (I'm not in home now)

Someone on the hauppauge forum say that the new drivers on 4.6b Software CD don't fix the issue.

Have a look at page 32 in http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/178.24/178.24_WinXP_GeForce_Release_Notes.pdf. I don't know if this can help but it may be worth a try.

My version of IR.exe is 2.58.26155.0 and i have it installed by 4.6b. However I don't have it running to get able to use my remote in MP.

once media portal is setup you can remove the ir applet,
i use the haup 45 but and it works 99% flawless just stops responding occ, once a week maybe and a cold boot fixes it

Updated hauppauge tunner + IR drivers to 4.6b CDROM version, disabled the IR.exe, same problem, PC freezes. Seem that this is only a Hauppauge HVR-1300 problem with the remote control when watching TV.

not sure if you are on a wild goose chase here
as a test can you uninstall the ir kit, driver and hw and use a keyboard see if the freezing still occurs using a keyboard to control?

Now i have the hauppauge disabled to watch TV on MP. I'm using the Hauppauge remote and a USB tunner without any problem. This afternoon i will try to uninstall the IR drivers and hw, enable the hauppauge on MP and let you know.

sorry is the usb tuner also a hauppauge?
I should have been clearer as you can't actually remove the 1300 usb hardware as it is on the 1300 but u can disable it in device manager. this way u can then use the 1300 without using the haup. remote.

I uninstalled the IR software/driver, and i'm watching TV during 2 hours without any problem... The USB tunner is a Kworld 350.
