Hauppauge PVR-500 - Only one out of four tuners work (1 Viewer)

After doing a ton more research on this issue, I have finally come up with this. We are getting fuzzy channels because of the wrong frequency of the channels. When you do an auto tune using a fresh install of RC2, it takes every channel and add it to the TV database. Somewhere in-between RC2 and RC3, the database stopped recording the frequency into the database and goes off a master list. It just so happens that this list is wrong. I just installed RC3 and did an auto tune. I then wrote down all the frequencies from that. I then went back into each channel and added the frequencies. I then recorded like 8 shows (how I usually do and before I would receive fuzzy channels) and everyone came out ok.

So if you are having this issue, run the auto tune and write down the values and then manually add them to each channel.

IF any of the developers take a look at this... instead of having us pick a country and using preset values. Please let us choose Auto tune with will search for channels and add EXACT values it pulls from our cable or satellites.

If the list in itself is wrong, then how can it be possible to watch TV at all (which at least in my case is possible with the first tuner (only))?

I really don't know the logic behind the channel numbers in http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs....atabases/TV/TVChannel.cs?rev=1.36&view=markup though. They at least don't match the channel numbering scheme we use in Sweden (http://www.riap.se/tvfrekv.htm).

What I'd like to know is where MP gets the idea to set cable to false unless it's the first tuner (see the log above)...

So if you are having this issue, run the auto tune and write down the values and then manually add them to each channel.

Since I know which channels (not MP-channels) we have here, I simply converted it to frequencies using the above link. This makes recording work, yes. Feels good not having to tell the gf that something 'went wrong'...

Hi there, I also have a 500 and am having similar problems with the analog autotune feature in the wizard in MP. It only detects ten channels (it was 9 before I updated to the latest CVS), and the rest come in as static. There should be 50+ channels that come up. If I do the autotune in MP setup under television->capture cards->edit, it comes up with all the channels. I've been reading around the forum here and people seem to think it has to do with the frequencies being wrong for the US location within whatever MP config file handles that. Synopsis::

Autotuner for analog tv only detects 10 stations out of a possible 57 or so, and the rest come up as static. My location is Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America.

With the 03-20-2006--19-51 CVS no channels at all are added here during the wizards autotune stage.

After I've ignored the crash (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=13670) and pressed scan, I can see the channels beeing found but the list of channels stays empty. After doing 4 manual scans in configuration all channels but one were found. I added that manually, and noted that the frequency for it was set to 0 (default) in the database.

Now that you mention it, I am still missing a local channel myself, but I have no idea what frequency. I just got the xmltv/zap2it programming guide all set up so I've bypassed the wizard in media portal altogether as well as autotuning the stations in MP Setup. Would be nice to be able to do it all within the program though.

I downloaded the very latest CVS and did the autoscan in the the wizard. I then went right out and checked the database... all my frequencies were in there and I received all my channels. I will tests this again sometime tomorrow, but it all seems to be working for me.

Now I have another problem, the same one reported by the original poster. The second tuner doesn't work properly, and all shows are recorded as static. The temporary solution to this is for me to disable the second tuner via the mediaportal setup program. I'll update on whether or not it works properly afterwards.

EDIT: So far no scheduled recording has produced anything but static, but when recording on command (i.e. last night I recorded south park just great), it works fine. I upgraded to the latest CSV and now no channel above 13 works. *sigh* What can I do to help fix these issues?
