MediaPortal Version: 0.2.1.0
Windows Version: Windows XP Home
CPU Type: Athlon XP 2000
HDD: 2 x 300 GB Seagate
Memory: 512 Mb
Motherboard Chipset: VIA
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce FX5200
Video Card Driver: ?? Had issues upgrading, but have a recent version
Video Card Resolution: 720x576
TV Card: Hauppauge PVR150
Remote: Hauppauge

Scenario:

Trying to get a Hauppauge remote working with media portal. It just wont do it.

I can get the remote working on gbpvr, so it appears like the drivers are installed properly. I have also had the remote previously installed on media portal fine (I reinstalled my machine).

Something else, when I go into my tv, and it is displaying TV I can click a channel button (using the remote - I have to hold it down though for ages), and it displays the channel at the top of the screen before it changes. But it doesn't always change to the correct channel.

The rest of the time the remote doesn't do anything.

In the remote setup screen it says everything is OK (it used to tell me my remote driver was out of date, but I updated it).

??

Hi There,

Thanks. I am having other issues at the moment which are not related, so I will post the log files when I can.

Just a question though, the other post you have there says that the hauggpauge IR application is not needed by media portal to run.

Just wondering then, if I install the IR application from hauggpauge does that install the remote control driver too? Or is that installed as part of the main PVR150 driver install?

Is it possible that the remote driver is not installed properly? I cannot see that as part of the device manager in the control panel (and never have either).

Logs

Oh, incidently I cannot see anything in the log files that relate. I will keep looking though, and post the log files in a few days.

You have to install the IR app. It's not being installed by the driver.

If it's running or not, doesn't matter for MP. It takes care of the app.

Thanks Flipger

Flipger - your solution fixed the issue! Thanks.

Something else that might help others, along with all this my machine was crashing at random intervals.

I scanned the registry with a program called "REGCURE". I had to pay for it, but at the end of the day it finds a lot more things than any free registry scanner I have ever found.

Anyway it seems to have done the trick.

Think the moral of the story is that issues in the registry can really stuff up your machine. I almost reinstalled my OS!
