    Your Welcome

another thing you may need, as T500 not very forgiving for standby\hibernate, look at MPStandbyHandler

If you got time fill in your user cp (top left forum page), include your location\flag, you get a lot more local help that way.

Also in user cp, there is my system, fill that out and ENABLE, if you ever then file a bug report it autofills in the information, so you only do this the once.

    My 2 penneth....

It was reading a post from Paranoid some time ago that prompted me to put my Hauppage remote (with Nova DVB 500 T) in the bottom of a drawer and get an MS MCE one. Maybe the Hauppage software has improved, but every fourth/fifth/sixth resume would cause HCWHelper to crash and nothing I could find would stop it doing so.

This would often happen when recording something whilst away and I'd come back to sometimes hundreds of XP error reporting windows all waiting for me to click OK and the system failing to (re-)suspend as a consequence.

RC2 helped a lot but I could never get it right, even with the various Standby handlers. Now with the MS thing, it's not a problem.

I use the mce drivers for my T500, because i do not have the hauppauge software including remote installed (prefer mce remote), this may be why mines stable, and does not have some of the errors suffered by others.

Annoying that i have to use MPStandbyHandler to now get standby to work correctly, currently have version 6 installed as a service and did 8 recordings over this last weekend whilst away, which all recorded fine and returned to find pc in standby, so take it its working fine, but josch.hh is always looking for ways to make it better, just cannot keep up with him :)

This has been doing my head in all night as i have the same problem!
    Finally it's fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goto WinTV-PVR-150/500 Support page Download the IR32.exe (Ver 256) which is newer than the one pointed to everywhere else (ver 249). As soon as i installed that version the icon worked and MP responded correctly to the remote...
There are quite a few posts i have come across tonight with the same problem, if you see any of these posts please post that Hauppage link or to this solution.

Cheers for all your suggestions guys

With this, I just work on the principle M$ has broken something, that the various hardware vendors need to catch up on.

So although we recommend a bucketful of downloads, be suspicious of anything that can break existing hardware.

Main things looking for are directx, .net and WMP11 updates, these can adversally affect MP's ability to work correctly.

    Regards

I just bought the Hauppauge 'Remote Control Kit' which only includes the remote. Nothing else. This does not have any drivers, I was wondering if anyone has the drivers so that I can get this working!!

The stupid power button keeps sending my PC into stand by.. I just want it to turn off Media Portal.

    Thanks

Small update... I have found the drivers on the website (took 4 hours to figure it out! ha)

    IR Remote control application

    IR Remote control version 27244

Remote control applet. After you run this applet, an icon will appear in your Windows device tray showing that the Hauppauge remote control is active..

    Name: ir32_27244.exe
    Size: 430KB
    Updated: September 2, /2009

    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/remote_control/ir32_27244.exe

Now, I have those drivers... I have also changed the Windows behaviour so it doesn't go into stand by mode. I just need to work out how to make the power button on the remote close MediaPortal

    Anyone have any ideas?
