Hauppauge WinTV PCI problems with CVS builds. (1 Viewer)

Hi there.

Im running MP 0.2.0 RC2 and i am having problems getting TV-Recordings to work.

And when i upgrade to latest CVS build, i can't select my WinTV card i the Setup - Television ....

And if i get i to work, what are the best settings for this particular card.

As the WinTV PCI has no Hardware encoder you won't get it up and running with the newer MP versions at all. SW card support was removed and only digital or analogue HW cards are supported.

Your only choice would be to roll back to your previous MP version or to buy a new (supported) card.

I thought they just readded support for software cards?

What kind of WinTV PCI card do you have?

All WinTV-PVR** cards have hardware mpeg encoders.

Well SW cards are included with limited support again, but 2 prerequisites must match:

1. You have a 2,8Ghz P4 or equal processor
2. Your TV card comes natively with it's own software encoder.

I think 2nd is not supported for Hauppauge cards (at least not included in CVS), if I'm wrong search the forum for advises to get your card supported!

Btw.: I'm pretty sure that "WinTV PCI" is already the correct product name. It's not "a PCI card by Hauppauge" but the Hauppauge model "WinTV PCI"...

Thanks for all the answers folks.

My only problem is now that, when i update to the newest CVS build (or any other for that matter) my TV-Card can no longer be found in setup-television. The problem is existing in both 0.2.0 RC2 and 0.1.3.0.

Isn't there a way that i can trick the CVS updated version to see/use my WinTV PCI card?

Hope someone can help with this.
