where can i find these settings ??? DX exlusive mode ... ?
DirectX exclusive mode is in MediaPortal setup under General -> use exclusive DirectX mode for fullscreen video/tv. Make sure you've enabled this option. Most of the time this solves all tearing problems.

    Kind regards,
    Michel

OK. I've turned on Exclusive DirectX Mode in the General area. That seems to have improved matters. About to watch a movie so will know in a couple of hours.

But how do I change the video render type? I see the advice is to use VMR9 or 7 but in the DVD Codec area I only have the options to change Video Codec, DVD Navigator, Audio Renderer and Audio Codec. There's no video renderer.

    Am I missing something?

Hopefully just changing to exclusive DirectX will have solved my issues. Using an external player is a pita.

All renderers but VMR9 have been removed from MediaPortal in the latest builds, so you will not see a choice there anymore.

Your video card is more than sufficient, so VMR9 should work fine for you. Chances are because there is only 1 option for the video renderer, they have probably removed the option all together, so it will use VMR9 only.
