HcwHelper continually crashing after Hauppauge upgrade (1 Viewer)

I upgraded my Hauppauge software to 2.3g.

On launch Mediaportal gets to 'Loading Windows Services' or similar and the OS throws up a crash window for HCWHelper. When I close this I immediately get it again - MediaPortal continues to run. The crash window continues to appear until MP is shut down. I guess this is a service that is being continually restarted.

Is this the remote control service? My remote works fine with the Hauppage software. MP's configuration dialog for remotes claims 'The Hauppauge IR Components have not been found. Install the latest drivers ...'

HCWHelper has always crashed, from going back years.

The only part that MP is looking for regarding remote is IR32.exe, make sure you disable any other hauppauge services running, as they may well conflict with MP

Try uninstalling then reinstalling IR32.exe. I've seen this problem reported a couple of times and was briefly able to reproduce it and I thought I had tracked down the cause. I then reinstalled IR32 to test my theory and the problem never came back. Strange solution, but do try it.

Thanks for the replies.

It does seem like a Hauppauge service is conflicting with MP (only I couldn't see what it was). I've uninstalled all the Hauppauge software except the remote control drivers and everything is back to normal. Job done.
