HDD dead, any way to find out what movies I had? (1 Viewer)

My movies hdd has died and all movies were listed in Moving Pictures.

When the hdd died, Moving Pictures removed them from db (normal), any way to find out what I had in the dead hdd? Log file doesn't have this info because it generates a new one automatically every time MediaPortal starts.

The only way I'm thinking is to go through the covers images.

If so try this: MHDD
You'll need to create a floppy or CD to boot from and use the scan and remap options (read the MHDD docs)
I have used this to repair unreadable drives and recover the data!!!

I've tried many recovery programs, but no luck, the problem is that bios doesn't detect it at all. I will try your suggestion about MHDD. Thanks a lot mate.

but what I do in case of that situation is run the xml generator and store it on my non movie hdd's. So if anything ever happens i have that xml list.

Had that once with a raid 0 array ... (stupid, I know). Controller thought the array was fine, but it was split. Couldn't get it together again with (free) tools. But that on the side I'd go though the fanart, not the covers, since moving pictures downloads only one fanart per movie (right?) and multiple covers. Also, was it an internal HDD or an external HDD. I had an external case once which died, but the disk itself was fine. I'm guessing it's internal though since you mentioned it not being recognized by the bios. Good luck!

What I also found is that you can use the dos command tree "f:\movies" > "c:\movies_f_drive.txt" /A /F
