Help!

Start TV server and attempted to scan channels for the two recognised HD HomeRun tuners, NZ all regions. No Signal.

After trying New Zealand all regions - no signal, I found out our new transponder frequencies and created the appropriate xml file so now I only scan these - no signal.

Confused - I can look at TV using WMP11, VLC and the supplied HDHomeRun Quick TV. HDHomeRun reports 100% signal and quality.

Looked at MP forums, changed TV server config for HDHomeRun tuners to "Stop card" when idle - no change. Noticed "Preferred Network Provider" set to and only has DVBT option.

What else is needed? Can't see other HDHomeRun users with this problem on the forum......I'm so puzzled.......

Thanks - RES

    Hi and welcome RES :)

Have you set the "main application" setting to "MediaPortal" in the application tab in HDHomeRun setup?

    Hi again

I'm not entirely sure about everything that setting does (you'd have to ask Silicondust), but one of the things is enabling or disabling the HDHomeRun PID filter (which saves network bandwidth). Only some software supports PID filtering; if the software doesn't support it and the feature is turned on then the software will not work.

Are you 100% certain that the frequencies you're using are correct? It would be good to know what region you're in so that I can update the TV Server tuning details...

    Interesting.

I'm confident the frequencies are correct, mainly because they are taken from the HDHomeRun Setup data, which successfully scans and names the channels. I've attached its file "Digital Antenna.xml"

When I'm home next I'll attach the xml file I created for MP. Not sure what the official name for the region is, but it is South Wairarapa (everything south of Masterton, ie Carterton, Greytown, Martinborough). It transmits from the current TV3 analogue repeater site, on a hill called Popoiti, perfect position for me! Thanks you Rugby World Cup for making it happen, looked like we were never going to get DVB-T otherwise.

Covering the bases in case I had got something wrong in my xml, I did try (several times) to get MP to do an all regions scan to no avail.:(

According to -->this<-- your frequencies are correct. 570000, 586000 and 602000 are the actual frequencies you'd scan in MP. One other thing I forgot to ask yesterday: have you enabled the channels in HDHomeRun setup? I remember somebody saying you also have to do that although I'm not 100% certain. I only have an HDHomeRun simulator for testing and support - not quite the same as the real thing. ;)

Yes, all 11 channels enabled. When you first tell HDHomeRun setup to scan it seems to enable any new channel found, so this part was easy to get right! Worth checking though, sometimes the obvious is so hard to see.....

i had the same problems, all channels would show up in the HDHR setup application and i could even watch TV through VLC (mythtv backend also found the channels) but i couldnt get MP to detect the channels.
after closing vmware workstation down i noticed that tv-setup failed to run & connect as it was using a 192.168.x address to connect to (the vmware lan) when my local lan is actually a 10.1.1.x range.
i removed MP & reinstalled it (this time including both backend and frontend where previously i only tried to setup the server side) and now all the channels seem to be scanning..

i realise i changed a few things and now it's working but my guess is on the network mis-match, the app could see the tuners because presumably it was being advertised by changing the HDHR setup to mediaportal (without setting the main app to mediaportal the HDHR tuners dont appear at all) but because the application was bound to a 192.168.x network it wasnt actually able to connect to the IP address of the tuners to get the channels.

hopefully this helps, i googled & read a few threads about this and yours was the closest in terms of hardware & descriptions (i'm in melbourne trying to get free to air broadcasts) but nobody had seemed to really pinpoint what the issue was.
