Basically once the HTPC has been on for a while- if I change functions and then go back to the TV I get "no signal found". On reboot the machine still has the same problem. Leave it for 5 minutes- problem still there. By the time I get to connect a normal computer LCD monitor to it it will then be ok and work fine. Some history- this was a hand me down HTPC that had been "flaky" from day one running XP mce. When I got the machine the HDD was dead which is why it had been discarded. I fitted a new drive and the machine would not boot. Reseated the memory and away it went. Clean installed the OS- updated it to current and got MP set up fairly easily and had this problem once I moved it up to the plasma - but only seems to happen when I connect to the plasma - not under test on my LCD monitor. Being fair maybe it has not been on test long enough on the monitor- it will be on test all night tonight. So what I've done so far 1. Replaced the Haupauge Nova T-500 with a Hauppauge DVR-2210. I went for a good card as the nova does not have a good rep. Problem remained 2. Added a fan to ensure the new TV card was kept cool - no change 3. Made major fan additions to the case by adding fans and then monitored the temps- Reduced these significantly- no change 4. The graphics card was a passively cooled 6600le. I replaced this today with the card listed above- no change 6. Wiped and reinstalled MP from scratch- twice 5. I've just replaced the original twin sticks of value ram with a known working single stick of 1gb ram. Its under test right now. I've emulated the cabinet it goes into which has about 2"inches space down each side (intakes are on the side) and about 4" at the back for exhaust. Under Speedfan the temps seem to be ok. I have yet to do this exercise in its cabinet as it renders the main TV unusable whilst I test- not popular in my house. So I have now replaced everything except the motherboard and PSU (also still using the original DVD burner but I'm excluding that) I put down the former owners flakiness issues to the original MCE- as we all know it wobbles like jelly on a plate. I'm starting to wonder if the m/b is the problem If anyone sees something in the attached logs I'd be very grateful. I had a quick look at the error logs but can't see anything obvious [/QUOTE]
