    Hi,

i'm out of ideas while setup my new tv server.

I'm having a chenbro ES34069 case und a zotac h-55 mb with DigitalDevices Dualflex minipcie and two DD S2.

Now my problem is that the two cards work absolutely fine outside the case 2000tunes each avg. tune time 900ms no failed tunes.

When i install the two cards in the case i'm having 30 fails in about 200 tunes and avg. tune time of 2000ms. This seems to be a result of a weaker signal when the cards are installed in the case.

I've tried to silve this by puttin in a lot of tun foil around all cables but this does not help :-(

    Stefan

    Hi there,

Are you using the same PSU when the cards are not in the case?

I am wondering if there is an earth/zero volt issue in the case?

    J.

Heat could be one source for the worser tuner performance. Also some interference from some other component.

hi tourettes i'm just moving the cards with OPEN case from outside to inside => signal strength loweed from 98 to 68 and a lot of discontinues. Can't believe that it is a heat problem.

Ok, that should rule out the heat. Do you have any HW that you could remove for testing purposes? Sounds like some other HW component is causing interference to the tuner chip on DVB card.

No the only add. hardware is a harddisk and these two DVB-S cards it is also enough when i put in the cards but isolate every metal which touches the connectors - but then i can't fix / screw the cards.

Could be a broken PSU or bad grounding that causes the issue then.

Sounds like an earthing issue to me. Are the cards powered by an external power supply (or is the signal coming from an amplified/active dish)?

They're connected through a floppy power connector. Is it possible to verify the grounding issue with a multimeter? How?
