Probably because LiveTV is interlaced, and needs more CPU power.

the cpu sits at a comfy 40% no sweat and the server runs fine??? a quad core should hammer it

this has improved it massively!!! but.... there are still the odd glitch here and there. think its due to the nVidia graphics card.... might look for a ati suitable
