Hello,

I am new to MP and spent most of my day yesterday getting it to work. I have experience with MythTV, SageTV, and WM7. I am still looking for the ultimate HTPC, and thought I would try MP.

I am using 2 hauppauge 1600, and two hauppauge 2250's. My sources are cable STB. satellite STB, and OTA.

I am using the 1600 ir receiver and blaster, the receiver is working fine, but the blaster is not working. The blaster.exe does not allow me to program the buttons. I also have the directv serial, but it is not working either,

The other issue I have is video playback on my movies, it stutters. I had this issue with sagetv that I could never corrrect, but with the same hardware it works in wm7 and mythtv.

please help.

thanks :D

    Hi and welcome joshuasdad :)

I am using the 1600 ir receiver and blaster, the receiver is working fine, but the blaster is not working.
Apparently the built in blaster plugin no longer works with anything other than XP - something we need to look at. Have you tried IRSS with the TVE3 blaster plugin?

The other issue I have is video playback on my movies, it stutters. I had this issue with sagetv that I could never corrrect, but with the same hardware it works in wm7 and mythtv.
Probably a codec issue, but it would be best if you could post logs so that we can see what is going on. Please use the watchdog with option 1 to reproduce the problem:

    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu and start it.
    2. Select option 1 "report a bug...".
    3. Click "proceed" to launch MP (note that plugins and skins will be disabled).
    4. Reproduce the problem by playing a video or live TV - whatever is necessary.
    5. Close MP - this will trigger the "watchdog" tool to create a zip file on your desktop.
    6. Post the zip file here.

There is documentation for the watchdog and posting attachments -->here<-- in our wiki if you get stuck.

I should also note I have lost audio on both stb's, works fine with ota.

    Might try a new install.

Oops, clicked "Thanks" instead of "Reply", silly me.

I have seen the first error on occasion and typically it's due to not having the right version of .Net library installed. It's odd it should "just happen" as I have only ever seen it on a new MP install when I first try to run it. I usually search the forums for the error message to see what others have installed to fix it. First step is to make sure your PC is fully up to date with Windows Update.

The second error I have not seen but then I don't use that exact plugin. Is that the Blaster plugin from IRSS? If not, I recommend you try IRSS. I control my TV (on/off), amplifier (on/off, up/down, mute, etc.) as well as MP. I've been using it for years and it supports multiple commands (macros) mapped to any button and much more.

Just something worth noting, before you make any changes, it is well worth creating a Restore Point so you can get back to how things were before you made changes. This is especially true when trying new codecs, as they are one of the main ways to get yourself in world of a pain with MP. I have saved myself grief on so many occasions with MP by simply restoring the system "back to yesterday".

    Good luck,

I am doing a new install, that error is from irss, and I still have it on the new install

New install, same issues with sound and remote. Tv server error gone.

Looks like I needed aero started to reduce choppy video.

Ir blaster working, sound working, thanks for the help.

Time to tweak a few settings, add some videos and start recording.

No worries :) I'm happy it's sorted. You can click (or not) the Thanks button under my post if you like. (I know "pat the ego", hehe)

Anyway, please ensure you create a Restore point now! I can't stress enough how handy that is to go back to a working state quickly.
FYI. I have 4 young kids and a non-techy wife, so downtime on the TV is not appreciated. I can muck around now with new things and if it all goes pear-shaped, I can be back where I was before in about 5 minutes :)
