I was using Media Portal for about a month now and it was working fine. I was using WinDVD as an external player do to not being able to get AC3 working properly. I recently got my AC3 working right. I have a Soundblaster card and I am using AC3Filer. When I set both Movie and DVD to AC3Filer, anything I play that is in AC3 has no video. I can get out by pressing B on the keyboard. If I remove the AC3filter and go back to MPeg audio, video is fine.

I updated to lasted version and find the menus are nicer etc. But I have the same problem and I dont' get the control buttons or movie information on the screen anymore. Just a window with 2 icons. Very strange. Play status bar and time (thanks) appears on the top.

So I figured I would go back to using the external player. No go. It just crashes now. So I can't play anything that is AC3 anymore. This is driving me nuts. I isolated it to the AC3Filter. Now I take the filter off, WinDVD still crashes. Plays fine outside of Media Portal.

Anyone have any ideas what happened. I can't use the software anymore. I hope i don't have to do a full reinstall. Not sure what else to try.

Thanks
Ed

Well I guess I must be the only one with this problem...

Went back to the stable release and use WinDVD as an external player. That works. Can't seem use Media Portal with AC3filter.

Sucks but what can you do...

    Hi,

are you using SPDIF/out for AC3?

The MPA decoder and ffdshow also should support AC3. Perhaps one of these works better....
