Help using the WinLIRC plugin (1 Viewer)

Hi

I recently bought a TwinHan Ter (Terrestial), and after a while finally got it to work with MP (needed updated drivers). However the IR remote that came with it uses a nasty USB reciever that windows treats as a HID device straight out the box. This means that all it does is act as a simple keyboard device and isn't useful to anything.

So instead I got my simple serial IR reciever out and used WinLIRC. I've used this in the past along with uICE (a brilliant piece of shareware to control your entire PC), and it works perfectly (even with the TwinHan remote). However it seems that the latest version of MP (0.2.0.0) doesn't seem to explain how to use WinLIRC plugin. The wiki page under documentation shows what would be ideal for setting it up but the plugin itself doesn't have these settings.

After spending 3 hours hunting the MP website and the net, I've resorted to asking the community for help.

Has anyone used WinLIRC with version 0.2.0.0 of MP and got it to work? If so how did you configure it.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Ben Cole

You have to configure WinLIRC with your remote. Than you have to put the plugin-file (dll) into the process-plugins folder and you can configure it in the setup menu under process plugins - works fine for me. Always start WinLIRC before MP of course ;) .

Unfortunatly the SerialUIR function does not work for me as I cannot learn any commands from my remote - with the same settings WinLIRC works with it. Maybe anyone has a suggestion on this one as there are missing some features in the out-dated WinLIRC plugin. I use the Harmony 885 remote.
