My system is a Vaio laptop running MP v1.5 connected to a Denon 1612 via hdmi. The speaker setup in Windows is set as stereo, and I have MPAR in Mediaportal configuration set to 5.1, but when playing 5.1 files, it's sending them out as stereo to be encoded in ProLogic. If I set the speaker setup in Windows to 5.1, I get true surround, but then stereo files are sent out with blank channels on the rear and center, so ProLogic can't touch them. Am I missing something? I really thought I had this right and I'm pulling my hair out!

Thanks in advance for your help.

@corcy - yes, mixing is disabled.
@lisag - that page got me where I am in the setup, which is what made me think it should be working.

Any other ideas?

According to that, all my settings are correct. :-( Should I try ReClock? I didn't want to do that, but I'm really at a loss.

Odd. If you set your audio device in Windows to output stereo, then enable bitstreaming in LAV audio do you get Dolby Digital and DTS sent to your amp okay?

Checking it out, it does seem to. It also seems that the other things are working now too. I thought that enabling that would break everything, but it seems to have fixed everything. What the heck? I haven't had the opportunity to check every format yet, but mp3 seems to pass through to ProLogic while Ac3 is bitstreamed. Any thoughts? And is there anything else I should check? Thank you so much for your help.

Glad that you are making progress. My understanding is that MediaPortal Audio Renderer ignores / rejects any bitstreamed audio, so sends it through to the amp as is. I think as long as you can find a set-up / configuration that works well for you, you are good to go!
