help with codecs and containers for wiki (1 Viewer)

Yeah. There is no need for codec packs at all I find. When I get a new video file that doesn't work I check out what format it is (using GSpot or similar) and then install just the codec for that and then set the Merit to Low, so it doesn't interfere with my existing setup.

    Hmm... I do feel the layout of this page is not the best.

    The wide table also makes all text paragraphs on the page strecht into one loooong line which has to be scrolled horizontally to be read. (You all have horizontal scrolling wheels?)

    Also, on average the applications only support about 3-4 formats each.

    Wouldn't the overview be more clear by just extending the list of codec (under the tables) with an overview of all formats each codec supports?

    For example:

    DirectShow Filters
    - Haali Media Splitter
    - License: Free, Closed Source
    - Homepage: http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/
    - Formats: Matroska, MPEG-4, Ogg, Ogg Media, AVI.

    Granted, this approach does not specifically say which formats are NOT supported by a codec, but it really is a lot more readable.
