Help with setting up TV client (2 Viewers)

Can someone please give me some pointers for installing MP as a client on my laptop.

Ive got MP 1.0.1 + TV server set up on a master machine running XP, which all works fine, but im now trying to install MP on a client machine (running Vista) and stream TV, Movies, Music etc from the master PC.

Video files, music and photos all stream fine over the network, but i cant get TV working for some reason. I can open up MP config on the client machine and have entered the TV server name, but when i try to close config it hangs, and when i try to open up MP it gets stuck on 'starting up windows plugins'.

i know its definately a TV server issue because when i uninstall TV server on the client, everything runs smoothly (vidoes, music etc), and i dont think its a firewall issue as ive added all the relevant exceptions and ports (and finally even turned firewall off on both master and client) but still no joy.

any ideas??

What does your logs say on the client-pc?....upload them and I'll have a look.

You don't say, but I assume you installed "MediaPortal" and "TV-Server-Client" on your client-pc...because you have to have both installed.

when i installed MP, i clicked that i wanted to watch TV, and that i wanted to watch HD content, and i set it up as a client in the configuration so i think tv-server would have been downloaded automatically wouldnt it? or am i missing sometihng?

by the way, MP is telling me that my gentle.config files are missing when i try to run tv-server config. does this make my problem clearer to anyone?

You shouldnt have tv-server installed on your client, only tvclient. Uninstall tvserver and do a reinstall of mediaportal, this time choose advanced install and choose client(Bottom selection)

i tried that the first time but MP crashed, so i installed TV-server on top of the setup as per geov's post (see above), but still no luck.

so just to be clear, i have to install MP with 'watch TV' and 'watch HD content' selected on setup, then i have to set it up as a client (the bottom option), then i have to go into MP config and enter the server name (not IP address?) in the TV dropdown menu?

Correct, and if you installed 1.1.0 beta without svn you also need to set the streaming port (RTSP) in tvserver settings(On your server) to 554(Standard is 0 for some reason)
