how do I boost volume in MP? (1 Viewer)

running MP on XPsp3

My stereo defaults to a volume setting thats a bit low to hear some audio on some media I play on MP. Have tried all the volume settings in MP configuration under General-> volume, and have all the sliders in control panel set to max volume for Master and Wave, but cant seem to get it any louder.

Is there a way to get a bump of, say, 20% in the sound output?

This is not dependent on MP, but on your soundcard & it's drivers. For some cards there is a setting in the advanced settings for the mixer called +xx db or similar (which is a tick box). If that is available (& turned on), the ouput of your soundcard will be increased. Otherwise: Maximum = Maximum ;-)

DOH! Its an old sound blaster pci card. I had been through all the settings for it but no option. Am getting a new cpu and mobo next week so hopefully that will have an option in its on-board chipset.
