How do I freaking change the channel? (1 Viewer)

I have tried both LM Remote and IRSS both setup with the IR codes from my remote. Within the applications it will perfectly send IR signals to the set top box, but I have no idea how to do this within MediaPortal or XBMC. I have the XBMC plugin for MediaPortal. I'm currently using IRSS to see if I have better luck with it.

How do I change channels? I have the cable box connected to the composite port on my capture card. I don't have any EPG setup yet. 1-4 will switch between the inputs of my capture card, but nothing else.

simply... it appears you do not have a control link between your HTPC and the cable box. You basically have a single channel hook-up, like if you had it set up connected to the A/V jacks of a VCR. In your case you need to use the cable box controller.

If you want to control the cable box from within your HTPC software, and get the full advantage of EPG and recording TV, you will need a blaster setup to send a remote signal to the box, unless there is a serial port or some other connection from the computer that your box will accept. I don't have cable, so I cannot help you with that stuff. Someone else will need to step in. But I thought at least I could explain where you are at..

I have an IR Blaster already setup with IRSS, I thought that was enough? I can manually change channels from IRSS software itself. This can't be done without the PC being wired directly to the box? I need a usb or firewire cable connected directly to it?

I'm very confused.

If you have the IR Blaster already set up and can change channels through the software, that should be enough for hook up. I don't know anything about XBMC and the XBMC plugin ... and I've never set up IRSS. I can't help in those areas, sorry. I'm sure you've already looked through the wiki. I can't offer anything else. There has got to be someone on the board that has more experience.

I... I already have the plugin. It's all setup and working. I thought I made that clear? If I hit the test button it will change the channel. My problem is, how do I do that within MediaPortal frontend or even with XBMC? When select TV, how do I command IRSS to change the channel? Do I need a EPG? My channels are just composite and S-video as selection.

No, you made it clear that you had IRSS installed and that you could blast using the blaster.

I figured it out. You need to map channels for this to work. I'm doing it manually, cause I don't see any other way to do this. Just copy and pasting what I see on TitanTV.com . 99 channels to map in MediaPortal. Take one down, hope something doesn't screw around. 98 channels to map in MediaPortal!
