You basically have a single channel hook-up, like if you had it set up connected to the A/V jacks of a VCR. In your case you need to use the cable box controller. If you want to control the cable box from within your HTPC software, and get the full advantage of EPG and recording TV, you will need a blaster setup to send a remote signal to the box, unless there is a serial port or some other connection from the computer that your box will accept.
