How do I handle Asian TV series? (1 Viewer)

I have a fairly huge library of Asian TV Series (Japanese, Korean, Chinese). I know about the MP-TVSeries plugin, but it appears that "thetvdb" barely contains any Asian TV series (and maybe they want to keep it that way?).

The problem is also that how could you even submit them? A typical Japanese series for example could be written in Kanji, Romaji or translated to English. And sometimes it is difficult to find the correct spelling and such.. Basically it would be a mess, even with a previously submitted title you would have to figure out how it was named before.

.. This basically makes MP-TVSeries as a plug-in overly complicated for my purpose.

What I basically would need is something simpler, maybe just a modified skin of sorts?.

For example a skin that:
Displays a Banner of a series (as these are avaible on the internet for pretty much any asian TV series).
A box with a screenshot (because the DVD cover view distorts the screenshots too much by stretching the image, and the small tumbnails is too small to make out what series it is.


The point with this is that you can easily tell by a banner what series it is, because if you don't know the language fully it can be difficult to tell by just the folder name.

Anyway someone have any good advice on how to handle these asian TV series?, is there maybe some other plugin than MP-TVSeries avaible for this purpose?.

i've been trying to setup media portal / my tvseries with chinese series these last few weeks and have been wondering about it too.

the manual import thing wouldnt work if the series isnt reconised so you'd have to make a compromise and look for a generic series name.

i thought about the skin thing too but was thinking more like a even basic plugin instead. one just like my tv-series but doesnt lookup episode info but just requires a cover art pic and an episode name.

havent seen anything like this yet, so if anyone knows if anything like that exists for series, then a point in the right direction would be great.

I have currently settled with just putting DVD cover images, as folder.jpg. Although this is not an optimal solution, but the best I can come up with.

I agree, a very simple plugin would be the best option. Like you said one that simply displays a Banner image and series name.

Yea that is how I place the images. But unfortunately can't use the TV-Series plugin, so I'm stuck with the standard video feature.
