i have the same in mind.
but i download the torrents directly via the fileserver using µtorrent webUI.

Don't use rename either. SABnzbd downloads everything automatically through an RSS feed from nzbmatrix.com and even puts them in the right folder. Of course, in SABnzbd you need to make sure that the downloads are sorted, but I can do that through the nice and very functional web based configuration.

I use utorrent, mediarenamer and a small program I wrote for managing the workflow.

The workflow manager is used to move the files to the required folders. It recognizes the series name and season and will copy the files to required folders, if the folders don't exist it will create the folders. This program also monitors progress of torrent download, and has browser tabs for the most used torrent sites.
