actually I think I have it figured out myself.  as I have all my files stored already, in the structure

MOVIES (dir)

 --- DRAMA (sub-dir)

 --- SCI-FI (sub-dir)

 --- HORROR (sub-dir)

 ------ SAW (file in subdir)

 ------ CHAINSAW MASSACRE (file in subdir)

I just placed a pic file folder.jpg in each dir / sub-dir and set the MP Display type as "LARGE ICON" (whatever the name was) and it works out as I needed.
