How to Default to non-basic Home page (1 Viewer)

To cut down on loading time, I want to minimze MP rather than close it so I have selected "Minimize to tray on GUI exit". I would like it to come back out of minimize in the non-basic home page (not sure if this is what it is really called) regardless of how it was left.

If upon closing (minimizing), I execute a string that sends a keyboard "h" to MP when it is in a submenu like Videos, then MP goes back to the non-basic home page, but if it was in the non-basic home page already, then executing an "h" switches to the basic home page.

Apparently "h" not only takes MP to the home page, but when in the home page it also toggles between the basic and non-basic screens. This is making it difficult to automate the process.

How can I either stop the toggle between basic and non-basic or make sure that the basic page never comes up (I have no use for this screen).

Interesting - Thank you for the lead. It seems the mod will solve my problem for rel 1.0.2, but he has no plans to create a patch for 1.1 until he moves to that release (and seems not overly rushed to migrate)

UPDATE - This definitely solved my problem. Thank you for the lead, rekenaar.

Developers - Please find time to integrate this change so the options are Home, Basic Home or both. This cannot be too difficult to include but overcoming not having these options is very difficult when trying to automate things to keep the wife happy.

2. Map the remote (or button of your choice) from "switch home" to "home" <- How depends on the input device you use

"No need for patch" would be great, but I thought I had tried every option - let me dig a bit more. A few questions for more clarity, if that is OK...

Re: 1 - In 1.0.2, I had "Use basic homescreen" deselected, which resulted in MP not loading to the Basic Home menu page on start up, but if one hits "h" when in the Home menu it would still toggle between Basic Home and Home. As I understand it, this selection (deselected) does not deactiviate Basic Home completely, just from being the default upon loading - Is this correct?

Assuming this is correct, please also keep in mind that I have selected "Minimze to tray on GUI exit" to save time on not having to reload MP each time. My intent is to have MP look like it was loaded by always coming up on the Home menu when unminimizing, despite where it was left when closed (minimized). To do this, when I "exit" I use a script (keyboard "h" then "Alt F4") from any point in MP to minimize it. The problem I was having is that it worked great if the user was two levels into something like TV or Moving Pictures becasue the "h" would take MP to the Home menu, then the Alt F4 would minimze MP. But if the user was in the Home menu when exiting, the "h" would toggle to the Basic Home menu before the "Alt F4" minimized it. Then the next time MP was powered up (unminimized), the Basic Home menu would still be in effect (because a true exit had not taken place - only a minimize).

Does that make sense and agree with how it is supposed to work w/o the patch? All I know is that it works as needed with the patch, but I could never accomplish this w/o the patch. That said, I am willing to learn

Your Re: 2 did not gel in my mind. What did you mean with "switch home" and "home"? Can these be accomplsihed seperately using something other than "h" on the keyboard?

^ Just tried this (due to using my christmas skin ), and it works like a charm. It is, on the other hand, more difficult to disable basic home - hence the patch...

Skin = Standard - Blue Wide (I think is what you call it), that came with release 1.0.2. I'm not ready to try alternates given I am still trying to get comfortable with "out of the box".
Input Device = Harmony 780 Pro with Intelliremote as a front end using their MediaPortal plug-in (w some customization such as the script described above)
MP Version = 1.0.2.

Interesting indeed. I'll have to play with that later. Given that the mod accomplished what I needed, my higher prioirity is to get the Guide and TV shows recording.

I made an illustrated Guide here how to disable standard home screen for use of the basic home screen only. (the other way you want but you can setup the basic home to your likings and use it, there are many skins wit superb basic-home-screen-editor eg. Maya)

Just for information, this is all sorted in 1.2.0beta (to be released soon).

You can choose which home screen you prefer, and disable either one if you want.
