How to diagnose crash/reboot during video playback MP1.2.2 (1 Viewer)

I'm running MP 1.2.2 and have been having problems playing back videos stored on the local HDD. At various stages during video playback - usually when playing larger HD files- the video playback stops and the machine crashes/reboots.
There's nothing obvious in the Windows event logs, nor in the Mediaportal logs, so I'm at a loss to know how to diagnose the problem further.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimae on a machine with an Asus M4A785D-M Pro motherboard, and 4Gb of RAM.
Can anyone suggest a good way to home in on the problem?

    1. Intermittend crash on long play could be HW releated. Sounds like heat, so monitor temps. Can also be faulty mem, so do a mem test, disk errors (so do a checkdisk on c:, check SATA cable as well as that was an issue for me), can be gfx card, so try a different one.
    2. Run MP in Debug mode (see my footer) and try to see if the mp logs have more info in that case (as I guess it is HW, it might not be).

Overall try to do a stress test (benchmark) on your pc and see if it crashes.
